Faucet leaking, not from pipe?
OK, I have two pedestal sinks with Delta Monitor faucets installed in each one, indentical. they have the seperate hot/cold knobs and all. Maybe 4 or 5 years old.
Anyway, the people prior to myself that lived here installed this bathroom as a ‘DIY’ job (a 160 year old house). Well, one of them has a leak, but it’s not from the pipe. Looking under the sink, I see a hole under the faucet (made this way) with this heavy duty (sort of) long metal thing sticking out, it’s maybe a quarter of an inch wide. The drip is coming from that hole above the pipe….if I sort of adjust the position of the faucet set, the drip sometimes stops. What’s going on? The other one works fine, these sinks have been used very little. Thanks!

call a plumber.
sounds like a bad faucet……go to home depot, or lowes, and get a new one. They’re not hard to install, just get some teflon tape to go on the fittings and you’ll be fine.
Of course you dould take the old one off and see if you can fix the leak…….easier to just put a new one on.
ok its an easy fix. the problem is that the tap needs re seating. the washer inside the tap is worn and more than likely so is the metal its sitting on. what you need to do is turn the water off at the mains. once you do that there will be a way of undoing the handle of the tap. once you do that then you need to take the centre section out it looks like a fishing float (yanno the thing that lets you see where the line is that floats on the water) you then take it to the hardware store and get one the same and buy a reseating tool (pretty cheap). it will have instructions on it if not ask at the store or ask me once you do that haha. then its just a matter of making sure its a nice flat seat and reassemble it with the new seal. good luck and if in doubt get a plumber buts its pretty straight forward.
if you are inclined towards how faucets work, it is probably the packing. which used to me made out of graphite, not they use Teflon tape. you could try and take the faucet apart and rebuild it
