Tips for DIY sack waxing?
New installation DIY wood countertop question?
We’re getting to the stage in our DIY house build where we’re making finish decisions. We’ve decided to go with a wood counter top in our cottage style kitchen. We initially decided on applying a marine grade poly to seal the surface of the counter top. Now I’m wondering if we should go with an oiled finish (linseed oil). I don’t plan on using the tops for cutting, but we will be using them for food prep (rolling out cookie dough, being one direct contact thing we’ll definitely do). What would be the best finish??? I really love the primitive look of peeling paint and such, so a perfect, shiny finish is not a “must have” for me.
Thanks in advance for the awesome advice I know I’ll receive.

removing cemented tile from kitchen wall?
we are considering buying a home where the kitchen countertops and back splash have ceramic tile. The problem is that the person who did this did not do a professional job at all (no straight lines, uneven, tiled on top of sink). Anyway, the kitchen needs to be completely gutted and renovated. but, how hard is it to remove tiles from the wall? keep in mind that this could have been a diy project and the cement is probably as thick as 3/8 inch in places. nothing can be salvaged (the cabinets are ~50 years old gov’t issue, so it’s not that bad). The tiles are 9×9, maybe, and has two rows of tiles. thanks!

DIY table decor?
my colors are black and white w/ pink..
i am doing a DIY reception. there will be finger foods that family will help make so no sit down dinner or catering. no dj. no alcohol. 60 guests at the most.
well, im needing a lot of help here cuz i am on a maajor budget. the reception is a fairly large square room w/ a little kitchen. rectangular tables are available. i just need to rent white chairs. i was thinking of doing black tablecloths with silver glitter, vases filled with mixed pink gerber daisies with iridescent marbles at the bottom of the vase. i also wanted to scatter white rose petals around that and then have little white and light pink candles surround the vase.
buut, im thinking that might get too expensive. how can i cut back? do i have to have that centerpiece idea on every table?
also, how should i set it up? should the ‘head table’ be in a different color tablecloth?
also, since it will only be finger foods and because i cannot afford to rent china…im wanting to use just heavy weight paper plates and and/or cups, knives, and forks.
what do u think about these w/ black tablecloths?

Is replacing a bath and sink easy enough to DIY?
I am going to replace the sink and bath in my bathroom. This is simply replacing like-for-like and using the existing pipework. I haven’t a clue how old the existing kit is but I have had a look and already taken the sink off (and pedestal). Rather than mess around taking the taps off I carefully knocked the sink apart and have taken the surround of the bath away – taps hanging off the wall (although safe). I was surprised to find no sink attachment to the wall!
I reckon I could use some compression joints and flexi-hose to replace the sink taps and new sink with pedestal. Although looking at the bath it appears a simple joint connects the bath taps to what appears lead piping. This made me a bit nervous. Is this also just a case of reconnecting to the new taps? Does everything come with a tap set and are all sizes ‘relatively’ standard?
I need to order a suite in either way. Also aside a crab-spanner anything else I need? Sorry for all the questions!
